On this page I want to show overall progress photos of the entire layout. This first photo was taken just about a month and a half after I started work on the layout. The entire mainline roadbed is built, ties are down, and all is ballasted. In the foreground you can see the turntable that I built and it is attached to the mainline. There is only track on the turntable bridge, but the E8 has power and could be moved back and forth on the bridge!

June 17, 2006

The mainline track has been installed. There were a few months where I didn't get much accomplished due to springtime work outside. But it was summer now, so it was too hot to work outdoors and I was back working on the layout.

August 20, 2006

The photo shows the center section that is mostly complete. I was getting ready to install the first industrial spur against the turntable. You can see the spur clamped on top of the workbench. I built it completely offline.

Almost a year later we have a nicely decorated layout.

January 17, 2008

This update photo shows the state of the layout on the new year. We have lots of trees popping up everywhere.

March 2, 2008

Two and a half months later we had a new center section, and the roadbed of the left-hand side of the layout was well under way.

I completed the ties and ballasting on the left side of the layout before I cancelled this project. I switched to S-scale. See my article on what I went through switching scales and the new layout I started building.
