Even though I didn't set out with a concrete track plan, I did have a general concept in mind. After I got most of the benchwork in and was well on my way to building the roadbed, I took some time to develop this track plan. The room measures just under 10 feet (3m) square. The U-shaped layout provides easy access into the room and access to the closet in the room. It is built on top of bookcases and other cabinets.

The track plan shown below was the final plan. I built the center and right-hand side of the layout, and I had started the lower level of the left-hand side of the layout when I decided to call it quits on this layout.

The upper track in the center section of the diagram is the one that went down, while the other track went up. By the time they crossed each other, there was a 2-inch separation between them.
