This first installment covers the SW1000 and SW1001. These were produced in 1966 by EMD and had 1,000hp engines. The SW1000 was used for general yard duty, and the SW1001 was used in dedicated industries. The article contains prototypes photos of many railroads, and scale drawings of both models.
