Sig Fleischmann, a founding member of the Southeastern Michigan S Gaugers, passed away in December 2022, just a couple weeks shy of his 96th birthday. The article covers some of the innovative things he had implemented in his home layout as early as the 1960s.

The author describes his layout, which models an Alaskan railroad in S-scale while living in Alaska. Includes photos of the layout, as well as a track plan. The author describes how he first learned of S-scale. Due to high postage costs, the author has learned to be very creative in building his layout, with most of it scratchbuilt.
