News From the North

The author reports on S modelers in Canada, including William Flat working on a new layout, Trevor Marshall moved and is building his new layout, Simon Parent is working on a number of 0-6-0 switchers, David Clubine custom-painted several American Models diesel locomotives, Andy Malette is working on his layout again, Yelton Models is now producing unique products, and Bob Hadlow in Calgary has passed away.

Siegfried "Sig" Fleischmann

Sig Fleischmann, a founding member of the Southeastern Michigan S Gaugers, passed away in December 2022, just a couple weeks shy of his 96th birthday. The article covers some of the innovative things he had implemented in his home layout as early as the 1960s.

The Athabasca Northern Railway

The author describes his layout, which models an Alaskan railroad in S-scale while living in Alaska. Includes photos of the layout, as well as a track plan. The author describes how he first learned of S-scale. Due to high postage costs, the author has learned to be very creative in building his layout, with most of it scratchbuilt.

Crown Models Products produced a number of unique reefers in the 1990s and early 2000s, which the author covers in this article. Includes several photos of the models in his collection.
